Industry Benefits

The applications for Sorghum as a value-added finished product are as versatile as the crop itself.

Food: Sorghum can be used as an all-purpose flour as a replacement for wheat, as a whole or pearled grain as a replacement for rice or quinoa, or even popped or roasted.

Fuel: Sorghum ethanol yields are comparable to corn ethanol. The DDGS produced also have a similar feed value for cattle as corn DDGS. Optimal ethanol blends utilize both corn and Sorghum.

Fiber: Sorghum has a broad range of industrial applications. These include temporary building materials, bioplastics, carbon fiber, blow-in insulation, and biodegradable packing peanuts. More and more industrial applications are being discovered every day!
